How to cancel HBO Max
To cancel HBO Max (formerly Max), go to HBOMax.com/subscription, sign in, choose Cancel Your Subscription and confirm. You can keep streaming until your subscription expires at the end of the billing period. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or your internet, mobile or TV provider bills you, cancel with them instead.

Cancel HBO Max on the web (billed by WarnerMedia)
Use this if HBO Max (WarnerMedia) bills you directly. To check who bills you, open HBOMax.com/subscription — the billing party is shown at the top.
- Go to HBOMax.com/subscription and sign in (if needed).
- Choose Cancel Your Subscription.
- Confirm your cancellation and note your expiration date.
No cancel option? Note who you’re billed through (top of the screen) and use the matching method below.
Cancel HBO Max on iPhone or iPad (Apple billing)
Only if Apple bills you for HBO Max.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap HBO Max.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.
Can’t find it? Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple Account you used to subscribe.
Cancel HBO Max on Android (Google Play billing)
Only if Google Play bills you for HBO Max.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture (top right).
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap HBO Max.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Cancel HBO Max billed through the Amazon Appstore
Only if Amazon bills you for HBO Max.
- Go to Amazon.com/appstoresubscriptions and sign in to your Amazon account.
- In Your Subscriptions, find HBO Max and turn off auto-renewal.
Cancel HBO Max billed through Roku
Only if Roku bills you for HBO Max.
- Go to my.roku.com/subscriptions and sign in.
- Find HBO Max in your Active Subscriptions.
- Choose Manage subscription.
- Turn off auto-renew, then confirm.
If you pay through your internet, mobile or TV provider
For example AT&T, Cox or DIRECTV, or another partner such as Samsung TV or Xumo.
- Sign in to your provider’s account or contact them to remove HBO Max.
What happens after you cancel HBO Max
- You can stream until your subscription expires at the end of your billing period.
- HBO Max has a no-refund policy for subscriptions it bills directly (WarnerMedia Direct).
- If you have the Extra Member Add-On, it is cancelled when your base plan expires, and you get a prorated refund for any remaining days on the add-on.
- Deleting the HBO Max app does not cancel your subscription.

Can I get a refund from HBO Max?
Not if HBO Max bills you directly — it has a no-refund policy for those subscriptions. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or another provider bills you, their refund policy applies.

No. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription; it renews automatically until you cancel.
