Cancel Dropbox by mail
If you can’t cancel online.
- Use Dropbox’s cancellation template (or a letter) with your name, account email and payment details as listed on the help page.
- US, Canada and Mexico: mail it to Dropbox, Inc., P.O. Box 77767, San Francisco, CA 94107.
Mail takes longer; charges made before the letter is processed won’t be refunded.
What happens after you cancel Dropbox
- Your account changes to Dropbox Basic (free) at the end of your current billing cycle, and you won’t be charged again.
- Dropbox Basic includes 2 GB. If you are over it, you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files, and Dropbox may delete files to bring you under the limit.
- Dropbox keeps deleted versions of your files for 30 days.
- You get a confirmation email titled "Dropbox Plan will not renew" from no-reply@dropbox.com.
Dropbox cancellation FAQ
Will I get a refund if I cancel Dropbox?
In most cases, Dropbox payments are not refundable. App store purchases are refunded by Apple or Google. EU, UK and Turkey residents have a 14-day refund window for plans bought on dropbox.com.
Does deleting the Dropbox app cancel my plan?
No. Deleting the app from your computer or phone does not cancel your plan or delete your account.
Is cancelling the same as deleting my account?
No. Cancelling downgrades you to Dropbox Basic; your account stays.
My card expired — is my plan cancelled?
No. An expired card does not cancel Dropbox, and your bank may move payments to your new card.
